What LoRaWAN's Long Range Actually Means for Facility Monitoring
● GTA Deployment Team · 04/06/2026
LoRaWAN operates in sub-GHz spectrum and can reach tens of kilometers in open terrain — far beyond BLE or Wi-Fi. But long range doesn't mean high bandwidth: LoRaWAN is built for small, infrequent payloads, like a temperature reading every few minutes, not data streaming.
For a facility like a warehouse or factory complex, that means a single LoRaWAN gateway — a MOKOSmart MKGW2-LW, for instance — can serve dozens to hundreds of sensors (temperature, humidity, parking, metering) spread across the site without cabling or an additional Wi-Fi access point at every location.
